Eat Drink Pretty is not a fashion blog, as you may have noticed. Let's just say that while I have plenty of creativity in some areas, fashion isn't one of them. I'm not a total nerd or anything when it comes to dressing myself, but I'm no fashion guru, either.

Love shoot: Libby and Jason plus a giveaway! - Dairy Foods

I took engagement photos for my good friends Libby and Jason a few weeks ago on a gorgeous fall day in October.  We had a blast hanging out at the apple orchard, wandering up and down rows of apple trees and drinking apple cider.  Libby and Jason's wedding is going to be very special as my husband Erik is the best man and I am the matron of honor. 

Caveat, I am not a photographer. I just take photos with a semi-decent SLR. I recently started messing around in Photoshop (thanks Nicole!) but still have so much to learn. Also, when is there time to edit photos? I need about 4 more hours in each day.

This rustic branch heart has made other appearances.  Remember Libby and Jason's engagement party I hosted a month ago? 
These two are a great couple, always laughing and having fun.
I love these photos surrounded by juicy, red apples.  Of course I was armed with plenty of props for this shoot.

A Mexican fiesta and a Bonfire giveaway - Dairy Foods

A bachelorette party and a giveaway, today is a good day!

I am hosting a Mexican Fiesta bachelorette party this evening in honor of my sister, Katie. We're going to have cocktails and dinner in my backyard and then head out to a couple bars in St. Paul.

As I mentioned yesterday, I am really trying to not go overboard on the details but here are a few I am excited about:

• I purchased 3 huge bouquets of zinnias at the Minneapolis Farmers' Market and I am going to put them in bottles/cans with Mexican labels
• I purchased three strands of papel picado from a website called Casa Bonampak and it cost about $24.  I am going to hang them from a 10x20 white canopy
• We're going to have a drink table with margaritas, Katie-tinis (vodka, club soda and a splash of cranberry with a lime) and strawberry thyme agua fresca as the non-alcoholic option (I got the agua fresca idea from Annie of Marry You Me blog, she did a great guest post on agua fresca on Post Cards and Pretties blog) 
• Can't forget about lighting, I'm going to put mason jars with candles all over the backyard
• We're going to have a ton of food including
• Ground turkey tacos
• Chicken enchiladas
• Spanish rice
• Chips and guacomole
• and for dessert...Tres Leches cake, yum

We are going to head to Bonfire on Grand Avenue in St. Paul later in the evening and how fitting...we have a $50 giveaway for a lucky (local) reader today! 

Bonfire is a favorite spot of mine and my sister's and they recently added a lounge area and no longer have dueling pianos.  They now have a live band or DJ on the weekends, which is perfect for a bachelorette party.  I have a feeling we'll have a few too many flirtinis (they make the best martinis)!

Here are a couple photos of the lounge area.  In about twelve hours 10 gals (and one super cute bachelorette!) will be chilling in this lounge, sipping martinis.  I can't wait!

I LOVE today's giveaway because it is for a local bakeshop that couldn't be sweeter. I walked into Sweets Bakeshop about a month ago to see a huge crystal chandelier hanging above a table with gorgeous displays of cupcakes and macarons. The three mini cupcakes I purchased that day were as delicious as they were pretty. And the people behind the counter were nice, nice, nice!

I am super excited about today's giveaway for three reasons. First, it is the highest value giveaway I've ever had on Eat Drink Pretty. Second, the product is totally awesome; it is handmade from a family-owned company. And lastly, it is for drinkware, and if read my blog on a regular basis, you know I love to drink pretty cocktails out of pretty glasses.
