Wonderful Weekend Delicious Recipes

Zuraida drop by to visit us over the weekend. She lived at Harrisburg and is a long drive here but since her husband came around this area for work so she thought it will be a good idea to spend a day with us . As usual we women will talk about cooking, baking, gardening , working life and also some personal stuff. We cooked a few dishes and also some traditional kuih. The kuih didn't turn out too well . But I was really glad that Zue taught me how to cook 'Kale' Saw this veggie very often at the supermarket but don't know what to do with it. Thanks for the company Zue and hope to see you again soon and hope we will do better with our kuih the next time ;)

Our lunch : Rendang ayam and 'Kale' masak lemak cili padi

Empanades so beautifully pleated by Zue.

The Apam that didn't 'burst' at the top as it should :(

Alfajores de Maizena Delicious Recipes

Carlos and I went back to Argentina last year and I noticed the Argentinian love their coffee and pastries. You can see cafes in every street corner. When you order a cup of coffee it will comes with some small little pastries and I just love it. Most of their pastries will have Dulce de leche inside. Dulce de leche is milk cook in sugar for a long long time and transformed into a thick gooey brown caramel.

I came across this recipe when I was reading Marce (an Argentinian) blog . You should see Carlos face when he bite into these. Alfajores are made by joining two cookies with a layer of sweet filling like lemon curd, chocolate, jam but normally the Argentinian will have it with Dulce de leche. You can find Dulce de leche at some supermarket or some speciality stores.

A bite of pure heaven!!!
